New Year, New Body- New You, New Life

Are you ready? It’s that time again when the calendar page turns and the motivation to make this year the one where you eat better, lose fat, gain health and get fit, correct? Weight-loss goals can mean the difference between success and failure. Realistic, well-planned weight-loss goals keep you focused and motivated. They provide a plan for change as you transition to a healthier lifestyle. Take the New Year, New Body 30 Day Paleo Challenge and dream big- but be smart about it. Follow my tips and suggestions to get started creating your weight-loss goals that will help you achieve your dream body in no time.

1) Attitude

Everything you do, always strive to have a good attitude. It governs the way you perceive the world and the way the world perceives you. We all have a choice so we can choose an inner dialogue of self-encouragement and self-motivation, or we can choose one of self-defeat and self-pity. This goes for negative body or self- talk about how you look, this is the easiest way to make you feel bad about yourself. If you want to change anything in your life start here!

2) Think wellness not just weight loss

Do you only make good food choices when you are trying to lose weight? This could lead to rebound weight gain if you go back to your old habits once you’ve reached your goal. When you start a diet, a wide variety of foods immediately become off-limits and this could lead you to feel deprived and stressed. Think of your goal you set and this challenge as a jump start to a new life-style and how it will open the doors to discover new foods that actually love you and your body back. It’s an opportunity to build a new relationship with food and your health that will have an incredible, positive impact on the rest of your life.

3) Set reasonable goals

Ask yourself if what you are trying to accomplish is reasonable. Trying to achieve too much in too little time can actually set you back. Take stock of any positive changes the new eating habits have brought you. Instead of focusing only on the changes you aren’t seeing yet (i.e. a drop in your scale weight).

4)Stay away from bad influences

Are there certain foods or even friends that lead you to make unhealthy choices? Try to stay away from triggers that may tempt you back into the unhealthy habits you are trying to break . Instead, find people, places and things that will have a more positive influence on your new lifestyle, and will help facilitate your goals.

5) Create a support team

There’s strength in numbers, that’s why Crossfit Steam is so successful. We train together to stay motivated. We are all here to support, push, motivate and help you succeed!! When you leave the box and your on your own it’s helpful to keep that support team going. Share your weight loss goals with friends and loved ones that will cheer you on and help keep you accountable along your weight loss and health journey.

6) Use your social network

Post it, tweet it, blog it, whatever you like, but put it out there! If you share this major lifestyle change and goal you will find more support and it keeps you true and accountable and it actually can make all of it less overwhelming.
